    Der Fastenmonat Ramadān BEGINNT ab Sonntag, da Sichtung des Mondes in keinem Land gesichtet werden kann.
    Ibn 'Umar (RadīAllāhu 'anhu) berichtete dass er den Gesandten Allāhs (SallAllāhu 'alayhi wa Sallam) folgendes sagen hörte:
    „Der (Mond-)Monat hat neunundzwanzig Nächte,
    so beginnt das Fasten NICHT, bis ihr ihn (den Neumond) gesichtet habt.
    Und wenn die Sichtung nicht möglich ist, so vollendet die Zahl dreißig Tage."
    [Sahīh Al-Bukhārī Nr. 1907]

    Heute vor 34 Jahren verübte Rifaat Assad, der Bruder Assads sen. , ein Massaker im Gefängnis von Palmyra, bei dem 1200 Inhaftierte erschossen wurden. Rifaat wollte Rache für das Attentat auf seinen Bruder nehmen, das einen Tag zuvor stattfand.
