    Read a letter from Iraqi mother Sundus Saleh Shaker to American mothers

    For this Mother's Day, we reached out to Iraqi mothers asking if they have a message to give to American mothers. Some brave Iraqi mothers shared powerful messages, full of love, hope and pain -- a pain that only someone who lost a son or a daughter to war can understand. Here is one:

    "My sister, American Mother. I say sister because we are sisters in humanity and we both lived through hard times imposed on us by your government under many false perceptions to justify its invasion of my country. What we lived through as mothers during and after this invasion took the lives of hundreds of thousands of our children.... We pray to God that you don't have to go through such pain, and we hope that you, and history, will never forget what your government did to our country for no reason but to destroy it and exploit its resources." -May Al Sharbati

    Please take a moment now to send your own message to an Iraqi mother–– let them know we have not forgotten their pain and sorrow.

    One of the Iraqi women who wrote a message is Sundus Saleh Shaker, a single mother of 5 children. CODEPINK is supporting Sundus in her pursuit of justice with a class-action lawsuit against the Bush administration for war crimes. Read the letter from Sundus and those from other Iraqi mothers on our special Mother's Day tribute site to Iraqi mothers. Help us spread their voices far and wide by sharing the page with your friends and family.

    Help us work for peace and for justice for the Iraqi people. And remember the original Mother's Day proclamation, a call to end war that said: "We women of one country will be too tender of those of another

    Salman Al-Farisyy berichtete, dass der Prophet, Allahs Segen und Friede auf ihm, sagte: „Keiner von euch wird sich am Freitag einer Gesamtwaschung seines Körpers unterziehen, sich soweit reinigen, wie dies ihm nur möglich ist, sich von seinem (duftenden) öl pflegen oder sich von dem Duft seines Hauses parfümieren, alsdann hinausgehen und (auf dem Weg) nicht zwischen zwei Personen laufen (um sie voneinander zu trennen), dann beten, was ihm zur Pflicht gemacht ist, und zuhören, wenn der Imam spricht, ohne dass ihm jede Sünde (gemeint sind die kleinen Sünden) vergeben wird, die zwischen diesem und dem vergangenen Freitag zurückliegt."

    Repair works start in Homs with recovery plan to improve services

    Maintenance and repair works have been launched in central Homs on Thursday to rehabilitate the infrastructure damaged by the terrorist acts, Governor of Homs Talal al-Barazi announced.

    He told SANA reporter that a recovery plan is being set up that is meant to restore and improve services in the city as soon as possible.

    Wednesday marked the departure of the first batch of gunmen from the neighborhoods of the Old City of Homs, after all necessary arrangements were done to get the process started.

    Al-Barazi said it is likely that the process of settlement and reconciliation will begin simultaneously with the gunmen's departure so as to have Homs city cleared of arms and gunmen.

    Presidential Political and Media Advisor Dr. Bouthina Shaaban stressed that Syria, under the leadership of President Bashar al-Assad and the sacrifices of its army and people, is aware of the seriousness of the current stage.

    " Syria is, currently, leading a right war to keep the firm principles of the nation and its Arab identity, " Shaaban said Thursday in a press conference, following the emergency meeting of Al-Quds International Foundation Trustees.

    She stressed that what is going on in the Arab countries of the attempts to make Arab and Islamic nations busy with the internal problems aim at ending the Arab-Israeli conflict as it is schemed by the Zionists.

    The Presidential Advisor said that the Arab bloody winter , which they called 'Arab spring' will yield a real Arab spring which the nation has its tools through the resistance and the continuation of the struggle for restoring the Arab rights to their ligitimate owners.

    Turkish Security Forces Prosecuted for Blocking Turkish Trucks Loaded with Weapons Bound to Syria

    The Turkish judicial authorities charged 13 security forces personnel for blocking seven trucks loaded with weapons bounded to the terrorist groups in Syria.

    The accused personnel will be trialed soon in Adana Court as the prosecutor asked for life imprisonment for them as they were accused of revealing "a state secret" for political and espionage purposes.

    Erwartet sie ein weiterer unruhiger Sommer?

    Die Türkei verlor in der aktuellen Studie von Freedom House wie kein anderes Land und stürzte in der Weltrangliste der Pressefreiheit von Platz 117 auf den 134. Platz.
    In einem am 2. Mai veröffentlichten Bericht wurde die Türkei, in der mehr Journalisten in Gefängnisse eingesperrt sind, als in jedem weiteren Land, von „teilweise frei" auf „nicht frei" herabgestuft.
    Ausschlaggebend waren die auf den 1. Mai Demonstrationen erneuten Unruhen mit polizeilicher Gewalt.
    Die Szenen, ähnlich wie im letzten Sommer bei den Massenprotesten um den Gezi-Park, ließen leider wieder Verletzte und Inhaftierte zählen, darunter 9 Journalisten und 160 Festgenommene. Auch die Wirtschaft bleibt nicht unberührt davon und trägt ihre Folgen in einer nun erkennbaren Verlangsamung, da die Anleger ihr Vertrauen gegenüber der konfrontativen Taktik der AKP-Regierung verlieren und ungern in ein Land investieren, in dem Menschenrechte nicht geachtet werden.

    Bei Reporter ohne Grenzen schneidet die Türkei ebenfalls schlecht ab.
    Auf der ROG-Weltrangliste von 2014 landete Ankara auf Platz 154.
