Es wurde überliefert, dass ein Gelehrter namens Al-Fudayl Ibn ^Iyâd einen Schüler hatte, der auf dem Sterbebett lag. Al-Fudayl begab sich zu ihm und sagte ihm, während seines Sterbens, das Glaubensbekenntnis vor. Er sagte zu ihm: „Sag: Es gibt keinen Gott außer Allâh!" Doch der Schüler konnte es nicht aussprechen.
Der Gelehrte sagte erneut: „Sag: es gibt keinen Gott außer Allâh!" Doch der Schüler schwieg und sagte darauf: „Ich entsage mich davon." Dann starb er als Nichtmuslim, möge Allâh uns bewahren.
Der Gelehrte Al-Fudayl Ibn ^Iyâd bekam Angst und begann, aus Furcht vor Allâh, zu weinen. Später sah er diesen Schüler im Traum, wie er zur Hölle gezogen wurde. Al-Fudayl sagte zu ihm: „Unheil dir, was hast du getan?" Der Schüler antwortete: „O Lehrer, ich redete übel über meine Brüder und beneidete sie auf verbotene Weise, deswegen bin ich in diesen Zustand geraten und als Nichtmuslim gestorben".
O Allâh, bitte beschütze uns in unserer Religion und lasse uns standhaft im Islam bleiben. Âmin
