Prediger benennt #Islam-Bibliothek nach Osama bin Laden
Ein Islam-Seminar für Frauen in der pakistanischen Hauptstadt Islamabad hat seine neue Bibliothek nach Osama bin Laden benannt. Das berichtet unter anderem die BBC. Demzufolge ist das Seminar mit der Roten Moschee verbunden.
Verantwortlich für das Seminar ist Abdul Aziz, ein Prediger. „Aziz denkt, dass Osama bin Laden ein Held ist und dass er ein Märtyrer ist – und deswegen hat er den Namen Osama bin Ladens für die Bibliothek gewählt", sagte sein Sprecher der Nachrichtenagentur AP. In einem TV-Sender ergänzte er: „Andere mögen ihn für einen Terroristen halten, aber wir tun das nicht."

Abu Ghraib geschlossen – endlich!
Wegen der Misshandlung von Gefangenen durch US-Soldaten ist die berüchtigte Haftanstalt im Irak 2004 weltweit bekannt geworden. Jetzt haben die Behörden das Gefängnis stillgelegt – aus Sicherheitsgründen.
Das berüchtigte Gefängnis von Abu Ghraib ist von den irakischen Behörden aus Sicherheitsgründen geschlossen worden. Wie Justizminister Hassan al-Schammari erklärte, seien die 2400 Insassen in andere Gefängnisse im Zentral- und Nordirak verlegt worden. Unklar war zunächst, ob das Gefängnis vorübergehend oder dauerhaft geschlossen werden soll.
Abu Ghraib liege in einer unsicheren Region, erklärte al-Shammari zur Begründung der Schließung. Im vergangenen Juli hatten Extremisten die Haftanstalt und ein weiteres Gefängnis in Tadji nördlich von Bagdad angegriffen. Hunderte Häftlinge flohen, mehr als 50 Insassen und Sicherheitskräfte wurden bei den Angriffen getötet.
