Wenn Sie 40 Jahre zurückschauen, sagen wir ins Jahr 1970, damals war Israel eines der am meisten respektierten und bewundertsten Länder der Welt. Es gab viele positive Stimmen. Jetzt ist es eines der unbeliebtesten und gefürchtetsten Länder der Welt. In den frühen 1970er-Jahren hat Israel eine Entscheidung getroffen. Sie hatten die Wahl und sie haben die Expansion der Sicherheit vorgezogen – mit gefährlichen Folgen. Konsequenzen, die zu der Zeit auf der Hand lagen. Ich und andere Menschen schrieben darüber – wenn sie die Expansion der Sicherheit vorziehen, wird das zu innerstaatlichem Niedergang, Wut, Widerstand, Isolation und möglicherweise zur ultimativen Zerstörung führen. Und durch die Unterstützung dieser Politik tragen die Vereinigten Staaten zu den Gefahren bei, die Israel bedrohen." Euronews: "Das führt mich zum Thema Terrorismus. Das ist wirklich eine globale Pest und einige Menschen – ich denke, Sie eingeschlossen – werden sagen, dass das eine Konsequenz der weltweiten US-Antiterror-Politik ist. Wie weit sind die Vereinigten Staaten und ihre Verbündeten für die derzeit grassierenden Terroranschläge auf der ganzen Welt verantwortlich?" Noam Chomsky: "Die bei weitem schlimmste Terrorkampagne in der Welt ist die, die Washington inszeniert. Das ist eine globale Ermordungskampagne. Es gab noch nie eine Terrorkampagne dieser Größenordnung." Euronews: "Was meinen Sie mit globaler Ermordungskampagne?" Noam Chomsky: "Die Drohnenkampagne – genauso kann man sie bezeichnen. In weiten Teilen der Welt führen die Vereinigten Staaten systematisch, öffentlich, offen – es gibt nichts Geheimes daran, was ich sage, wissen wir alle – regelmäßige Kampagnen durch, um Menschen zu ermorden, die von der US-Regierung verdächtigt werden, dem Land irgendwann Schaden zuzufügen.
