Qarabağda müharibə qızışanda Tovuz-Bakı marşrut avtobusunda işləyirdim, öz avtobusuma "Yaşa səni, Azərbaycan" sözlərini yazdırdım. Avtobusa Azərbaycan bayrağının, ay ulduzun şəklini çəkdirdim. Bir gün evdəki tüfəngimizi götürdüm və döyüşmək üçün dağlara qalxdım. Müharibə dövrü mənim üçün çətin olmadı, dediyim kimi, Əfqanıstanda olanda müharibəyə öyrəşmişdim. 1989-cu ildə ermənilər torpaq iddiasına düşən zamandan etibarən Tovuzun Əlibəyli kəndində müdafiə qurduq. Mənim rəhbərliyim altında özünümüdafiə batalyonu yaradıldı və ilk olaraq öz qohum-əqrəbamı səngərlərə çıxardım. Bundan sonra 150 nəfər döyüşçü toplayıb torpaqlarımızı qorumağa başladıq. Yaradılan ordu ilə könüllülər sırasına daxil olduq. İlk döyüşə çıxardığım qohumlarımın əksəri – əmim oğlu, xalam oğlu, bacanağım, qaynım, qaynımın oğlu şəhid olub. Tovuzun müdafiəsi ilə yanaşı, biz qonşu rayonların da müdafiəsini həyata keçirmişik. Başkənd qəsəbəsinin alınmasında öndə biz getmişik". 1990-91-ci illərdə – SSRİ dağılmamışdan qabaq düşmən tərəfə atmağa güllə tapılmırdı. Güllə almaq üçün Gürcüstana getdim. O zaman hər adamda da maşın yox idi, olanların da əksəri qorxurdu güllə gətirməyə getməyə. Peşə məktəbinin müəllimi olan Elbrus Əhmədov dedi ki, mənim "Pobeda"mla gedək, harada qırılar-qırılar. Gürcüstandan 24 yeşik güllə alıb qayıtdıq, rayona çatanda Elbrus dedi ki, artıq dözmürəm yuxusuzluq və yorğunluğa, güllələri postlara səhər qaldırarıq. Mən isə postları yoxlamağa getdim. Gecə atışma başladı, rabitə ilə Elbrusa xəbər göndərdim, gecə güllə gətirəndə yolda maşın sönüb, düşüb onu "ruçka" ilə işə salanda maşın, sən demə, "skorost"da qalıbmış, dərhal üstünə çıxıb. "Pobeda" onun üstündən keçdi, o şikəst qalıb". Döyüş zamanı dəfələrlə ermənlərlə qarşı-qarşıya gəlmişəm. Ermənilərlə qarşılaşan zaman onlar həmin an talelerinin nə olacağını hiss edirdilər. Və geri qayıtmaq üçün şanslarının olmadığını dərk edərək dərhal təslim olurdular. Onlar tutulan zaman müharibə istəmədiklərini bizə yalvararaq deyirdilər. Hətta bizim briqadanın uşaqları bir neçə dəfə ermənini tutan zaman rəhmətlik jurnalist Çingiz Mustafayev də görmüşdü. O erməninin tutulması anını şəkil kimi çəkmişdi. Çingiz Mustafayev düşmən tərəfdən bir nəfərin vurulması, əsir tutulması xəbərini eşidən zaman sanki uşaq kimi sevinirdi. Çingizin çəkdiyi kadrların hər biri indi ANS telekanalındadır. Onu da qeyd edim ki, düşmən tərəfdə döyüşənlərin əksəriyyəti erməni deyil başqa millətlərin nümayəndələri idi. Çünki ermənilər silah səsindən və qandan qorxurdular. Hazırda da döyüşmək ruhundayam.
