Darunter ein Memorandum zur Etablierung eines "Obersten Strategieausschusses" und ein Abkommen für militärische Zusammenarbeit. Die Verträge wurden in Ankara bei einem offiziellen Türkeibesuch vom Emir unterzeichnet. Der türkische Ministerpräsident Recep Tayyip Erdogan besuchte Doha ebenfalls vergangenen September. Der Grund für die umfangreichen Kooperationsvereinbarungen sollen auf die gemeinsammen Sichtweisen zu regionalen und globalen Fragen zurückzuführen sein, so die Anadolu News Agency. Analysten bewerten das Memorandum als „sehr bedeutsamen Schritt". „Türkei und Qatar trennten sich nie voneinander," so Erdogan. „Wir hielten stets zusammen, wir blieben stets solidarisch und wir standen stets an Seite der unterdrückten Menschen dieser Welt." Anlässlich Qatars Unabhängigkeitstag, dem 18. Dezember, benannte die Türkei eine Istanbuler Straße nach dem Emirat. Mehrere Amtsträger nahmen an der Eröffnugszeremonie der "KATAR" Straße teil.
