Leider hat sich es heutzutage sogar schon bei den Muslimen so etabliert, dass Frauen nach dem Namen suchen und nur noch den Mann um sein OK fragen. Islamisch gesehen sollte es aber anders herum sein, was aus folgendem Hadith hervorgeht: Ein Vater beklagte sich einmal bei Umar möge Allah mit ihm zufrieden sein, dem Fürsten der Gläubigen, über den Ungehorsam seines Sohnes. Da fragte Umar dem Sohn: „Was veranlasst dich zum Ungehorsam deinem Vater gegenüber?" Der Sohn stellte eine Gegenfrage: „O Fürst der Gläubigen! Was ist das Recht des Sohnes seinem Vater gegenüber?" Er erwiderte: „Seinen Namen gut zu wählen, seine Mutter gut zu wählen und ihn das Buch zu lehren." Der Sohn entgegnete: „O Fürst der Gläubigen, mein Vater hat nichts von all dem getan!" Da wandte sich Umar dem Vater zu und sagte:" Du warst deinem Sohn gegenüber ungehorsam, bevor er dir gegenüber ungehorsam war!"
